        Cleaning Tips & Care Guide

Welcome to your comprehensive guide to maintaining and caring for your furniture’s fabric, leather, and overall structure. This guide is designed to help you keep your furniture looking as beautiful as the day you brought it home, with simple, effective tips and techniques for routine maintenance, stain removal, and general care.

Fabric Care & Fabric Cleaning Guide

        Routine Fabric Care

        • Vacuuming: Use your vacuum’s upholstery attachment to remove dirt, dust, and pet hair, preventing fabric wear. Keeping your furniture clean through monthly vacuuming extends its life and appearance.
        • Cushion Rotation: Regular rotation and flipping cushions promote even wear and maintain the furniture’s structure and comfort. Fluff back cushions to maintain shape and comfort.

        Quick Stain Removal

        • Don’t Panic: Immediately address spills like mud, ketchup, lipstick, and more by gently removing any solid residue with the edge of a teaspoon or a flat utensil.
        • Grab Distilled Water & Blot: Dampen the stain with cool distilled water and gently blot with a white paper towel or clean cloth. Note: the use of tap water and/or warm water may result in a stain ring.
        • Do Not Rub: Avoid rubbing; instead, blot until the stain no longer transfers to a clean, dry cloth or clean, dry paper towel. Note: blot from the outer edges towards the center to minimize the risk of a stain ring forming.
        • Apply Gentle Circles: For persistent stains that cannot be removed with blotting, apply a small amount of distilled water and gently rub in circular motions with a microfiber cloth, using a mild soap if necessary.
        • Grease Stains: If the stain is from grease and your Fabric cleaning code is WS, you may use lathered mild dish soap and distilled water. Mild dish soap is recommended as it may pull the grease out of the stain. Rinse with a clean towel and repeat until the stain lifts and no longer transfers onto a clean, dry cloth.
          • A WS code indicates that dry-cleaning solvents and water-based cleaners can be used. These fabrics can be spot-cleaned using upholstery shampoo, foam from mild soap, or a gentle dry cleaning solvent. It’s especially important to pre-test in this case. For deep cleaning, it’s best to call a professional.
          • Note: always check your lathered soap solution on a hidden part of the upholstery to make sure it doesn’t stain the fabric.
        • Air Dry: Allow the fabric to air dry completely. Do not use hair dryers or any heat sources that could damage the fabric.

        Gum or Wax Removal

        • Use A Bag of Ice: Place a small plastic bag filled with ice over the affected area until the gum or wax hardens. To remove gum or wax, carefully chip away the hardened material. If needed, repeat the process. Please see the “Quick Stain Removal” section above for any remaining stains.

Leather Care & Leather Cleaning Guide

        Routine Leather Care

        • Vacuuming: Regularly remove dust and loose particles with the soft upholstery attachment (usually with smooth edges) of your vacuum cleaner. On leather furniture, do not use the horse hair brush or any attachment that can scratch the leather on your furniture.
        • Dusting: Do not vacuum aniline leather (hides). You may brush across the hide using a dry cloth, following the direction of the hair. Avoid rubbing the hide to prevent damaging the hair. Avoid applying too much pressure or rubbing harshly while brushing.
        • Direct Sunlight: Position leather furniture away from direct sunlight to prevent fading and drying out.

        Immediate Spill Response

        • Blot Spills: Use a clean, absorbent cloth to blot spills immediately, avoiding rubbing that can spread the stain or damage the leather.
        • Stain Treatment: For water-based stains, use a designated leather cleaner. For oil-based or stubborn stains, consult a professional upholstery cleaner.

        Special Leather Types

        • Aniline Leather: Embrace the natural aging process that occurs over time, acknowledging that each piece is unique with its own set of natural markings.
        • Semi-Aniline and Protected Leathers: These are slightly more resistant to staining and wear, making them a practical choice for active settings.

        Cleaning Leather

        • Gentle Cleaning: Use a mild soap and distilled water solution for protected and semi-aniline leathers. For aniline leathers, a dry or slightly damp cloth is recommended. Note: always check the soap solution on a hidden part of the upholstery to make sure it doesn’t stain the leather.
        • Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Never use aggressive cleaning solvents on leather, as they can damage the finish and integrity of the material.

        General Care Tips

        • Allow new cushions to adjust and settle with use, rotating and fluffing as needed to ensure even wear and maintain shape.
        • We strongly recommend against removing cushion covers or placing any part of your seating in the washer or dryer.
        • Do not machine wash, steam clean, iron, or remove cushions/covers under any circumstances.
        • Avoid using cleaning solvents of any kind.

By following these guidelines, you can enjoy your furniture in its best condition for years to come. Regular care not only maintains the aesthetic and comfort of your furniture but also prolongs its life, making your investment worthwhile.
